How Contacts, Touchpoints, and Campaigns Relate
Audience: front-end end users
How the data connects
Contact (company / person)
├── Attached details: email / address / phone / social / website
└── (Optional) person contacts under a company
Mail template ──► fills send content (optional)
Campaign ──► groups a set of sends (optional; new sends often require the campaign to be draft)
Mail promotion ──► one outbound job (recipient + sending mailbox + subject and body)
Roles
| Object | Role |
|---|---|
| Contact | Who |
| Attached details | How to reach them: email, phone, and similar items hang under a contact_id |
| Mail template | Reusable subject and body assets |
| Campaign | Activity container: name, time range, daily send cap, status |
| Mail promotion | The actual send record that goes out |
Suggested order
- Create contacts first, then add email and other details.
- Create a mail template when you need reusable copy.
- Create a campaign when you need to group sends by activity (draft is enough to attach sends).
- Create the send in Mail promotion: choose the contact email + an Enterprise Mail sending account.
Sandbox usage records are not part of this flow. They are only for usage / session lookup.
